I needed to find a new home boarder for my SmileyGirl & am so thankful to have found Karen (Dottee, Sugar & Splodge)

Smiley is a highly nervous rescue dog who stresses badly when faced with any new situation / people / animals and when separated from me.
Finding a safe & understanding environment was paramount.
I never believed she could stay anywhere with a resident cat but Karen understood her issues from the start, knew how to address them & patiently handled her anxieties to settle her.

She sent daily updates to reassure me, which showed how happy Smiley was - even with Karen's cat sleeping next to her

PATCH

​

We have just collected Patch from a two week stay with Karen at Fur BnB. We could tell on collection that he felt at home, he was so at ease around the other dogs (who are also gorgeous) and in the home itself. Patch was allowed to sleep absolutely anywhere including on the sofa and Karen’s bed if he wanted too, which he did. 

He had beautiful slow strolls in the mornings tailored for his constant state of needing to sniff everything he passes, and pavement walks in the afternoons. Karen paired him with dogs that suited his pace perfectly, he even went on a few dates. 

My favourite part of Patch’s stay was that not only was he allowed to make himself at home just like he would at ours, but we had regular updates which meant we didn’t have time to worry how he was doing before another picture came through to reassure us! 

(Patch also has a few extra needs like medication/supplements that Karen took care of, she made us feel secure knowing that she knew exactly what and when he needed all aspects of his care) 

I would highly recommend Karen, Sugar, Dottee and Splodge to anyone that was looking for a home from home experience for their dogs whilst they are away. Patch appeared to have a holiday whilst we did too. 

 

POPPY

Our Poppy is a rescue dog and she can be a little nervous around other dogs. We also all work from home, so we hardly ever leave her with anyone else…so going on holiday and leaving her is hard…but thank god for Karen! 

Poppy has stayed with her twice now and I know I can leave her with Karen safe in the knowledge that she will have loads of lovely, kind attention and have lots of fun playing with Dottee and Sugar. 

Karen always sends regular updates, so I never need to wonder what Poppy’s up to, or if she’s okay, as well as a wonderful, funny report at the end of her stay. Karen is that very rare thing - an animal lover who has a magic ability to keep your dog calm, safe and happy while also being super-professional and organised so that the whole process of arranging a stay is easy and painless. 

I would whole-heartedly recommend Karen to anyone looking for a holiday for their dog while they are away!

JASPER

Well what can I say about Karen, apart from she is such a wonderful, caring and very talented lady. We bumped into her in September 2011 at an animal healing evening un Ditchling. We had recently taken on a 6 month old rescue dog, who had been beaten, abused and had half his tail chopped off. He suffered with severe fear aggression. We had already had various behaviourists in who had given up on him and even our own vet advised us he should be put to sleep. This all changed, as soon as we started to listen to what Jasper was feeling and how he was seeing us humans as a threat, not sure if he could trust anyone. We needed to see things from his perspective, not ours. With Karen's amazing communication and healing skills, we were finally able to start working on putting Jasper's broken pieces of the jigsaw back together. Jasper is now 9 years old and absolutely idolises his Aunty Karen.

SCOUT

Karen’s home is Scout’s home away from home. Scout was a very nervous puppy when she first met Karen but her experience and care in dealing with fearful dogs meant it didn’t take long for Scout to feel safe and comfortable with her and her dogs. We have been using FurBnB for over two years for long stays and daycare and we trust Karen with our Scout absolutely. Scout now, as a semi confident adult, has the best time with Karen and her dogs and we sometimes think she doesn’t want to come back home after her stays there!

 

ZIGGY

​

Karen has provided both day care and overnight stays for my miniature Schnauzer. Ziggy really adores being looked after by Karen. Karen is so caring, dedicated and professional.  She really understands Ziggy. The care that Karen provides to Ziggy is the best care any dog owner could wish for.

NALA

I sometimes think that Nala’s day with Karen is the highlight of her week! Karen offers a home from home for all the dogs in her care and  her evident skill, enthusiasm and love for our four legged member of the family is always apparent . I couldn’t ask for more and Nala returns from Karen’s clearly having lived her best life with walks, fun with other dogs and love and attention from someone I completely trust. 

 

MISSY

 

I have known Karen for about 7 years when we met at RSPCA in Patcham. I was looking for a dog and she kindly gave me some advice. This led to me getting my Staffie X - Missy.

I now use Karen when we go away and are unable to take Missy. Our dog is a much loved member of our family and we have absolutely no reservations about leaving her with Karen.

Karen will always go the extra mile to ensure Missy has a comfortable, stress free break. She provides a real home from home. Missy has a wonderful time!  We also get regular updates on their activities, which I look forward to receiving.

I have seldom met anyone else with such a complete love for animals and their welfare. I would have no hesitation in recommending her. 

 

JAMBO

I always recommend Karen for dog boarding as she provides the utmost care and attention for them that I've come across.   With her regular updates and photos I have seen how much my dog has enjoyed the family lifestyle and exercise that she provides and I know he is in good hands when staying with her.  

 

SAFFI

Miranda: Over the last 2 years Karen has looked after our gorgeous setter Saffi while we’ve been away sadly she is no longer with us but lived a long and healthy life). We have always been confident in Karen her honesty and have trusted her totally. She treated Saffi like she was one her own and Saffi knew this and clearly loved being part of her happy pack for duration of her stay . Always having a great time, happy to go and calm and happy when we came to collect her. I can totally recommend Karen she will look after your dog.

Maggie: Its difficult to quantify Karen’s relationship with her dogs, her kindness and understanding of their needs is something quite beautiful. Our Gordon setter Saffi, met Karen in the later part of her life in fact we had been told that she was only likely to live 3 months. Reality was that on meeting Karen and her dogs all that changed she became a puppy again and I absolutely know she loved being with Karen staying with Karen and more importantly being out walking with her. against the odds she lived for 15 happy months and this was due to Karen. Karen is truly a wonderful person and I highly recommend her she will love cherish and nurture your dog , and you don’t need to fret or worry believe you me they will be having a fabulous time.

 

MAISIE & JEFF

Karen has a wealth of knowledge, care and kindness. She helped me with Maisie my Scottish Terrier who was diagnosed with Cushings when she was 11. I took Maisie to Karen for Reiki and she also gave me advice on diet. Maisie is doing good and will soon be celebrating her 14th Birthday. The Vet is very happy with her.
Karen also helped me with advice and support when I adopted Jeff my rescue dog. As a result the introduction with Maisie and Jeff was very smooth and successful.

 

FREDDIE

When Karen looks after your fur baby, it is like leaving your pup with family. Karen is a wonderfully kind, engaging, safe and fun person whose level of care has left her an Auntie in my Freddie's eyes! I would not leave my Freddie with anyone else. I'm so very grateful Karen, the best pet care in Sussex for sure!

 

MINNIE

Minnie absolutely loves going to stay with Karen, and hang out with her pals, both for day visits and overnight stays.I have complete peace of mind when Minnie is with Karen, and can't recommend her highly enough.

Karen has looked after my little dog Jack several times and I can wholeheartedly recommend her as someone who truly loves all animals. She is a trained behaviourist but also has a caring, intuitive way with dogs and I know Jack couldn’t be in better, more caring hands while I am away.

Her ability to connect with them is astounding and she has a fantastic balance between a genuine love for them with a pragmatic, professional care for their welfare as a priority.
